Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on the 10th of March, 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. Corcoran is among ABC's first Shark Tank investors. As of now, she has been in each seasons of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she has made 53 deals on the show, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment to purchase 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, her mother, was an exemplary homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was always changing jobs during Corcoran's career. Her family often depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father, one who would drink too much, and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, especially after he'd had several drinks. Corcoran struggled through her schooling and was later diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran went to an Catholic elementary school in her area and started high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite having failed several classes during her freshman years.
